Why your little one gets cold in the water and how a Nudo Suit will keep them warm.
Babies can go into water from birth, but because they can’t regulate their own body temperature like adults, it is super important to make sure that they don’t get cold.
Babies and toddlers are not as adaptable to to temperature change as adults. A baby’s body surface is about three times greater than an adult’s, compared to the weight of their body. Tiny tots can lose heat rapidly, as much as four times more quickly than adults.
When babies are cold-stressed, they use energy and oxygen to generate warmth. If skin temperatures drop y even one degree from the ideal 36.5 degrees C, a baby’s oxygen use can increase by 10% - hence blue lips and the shivers.
Nudo Suits are made from 2mm eco-friendly stretch neoprene. Neoprene is made of small closed cells filled with air, which provide insulation against cold water. A Nudo Suit will not keep your little one dry, but it keeps them warm by trapping a thin layer of water inside the suit and preventing heat loss. The long sleeves and the fitted seams around the hips prevent the trapped water from leaking out and cold water flooding in, maintaining a consistent body temperature and extending the time for water play!
